The American Med Spa Association (AmSpa) has released the 2022 Medical Spa State of the Industry Report. This report is designed to help medical aesthetic and medical spa professionals understand the realities of the industry and make more informed decisions using data collected from providers across the industry.
“We are so excited to release AmSpa’s long-awaited State of the Industry Report,” says AmSpa CEO, Alex R. Thiersch, JD. “This report is the only one of its kind in the industry, focusing exclusively on the business aspects of non-surgical aesthetics in the United States. There is so much to be excited about in this data—I’ve devoured the report several times and always come away with something new. What’s most exciting is that it’s clear we are still on the ground floor of a nascent industry.”
From August 2021 to March 2022, AmSpa, along with partner Gordian Solutions Group (GSG), conducted an online survey of medical spa owners, and that information makes up the bulk of the information in the report. Additionally, AmSpa members and subject matter experts were interviewed to provide even deeper insights into the topics, which include:
“The past two years in the medical aesthetics industry have been the most interesting and impactful in its history. Between the incredible growth and popularity of the industry and its treatments and the impact (both positive and negative) of COVID-19, medical aesthetics has experienced a ‘baptism by fire’ maturation, and AmSpa’s newest State of the Industry Report delves into the details of all of it,” AmSpa’s COO, Cathy Christensen, explains. “AmSpa, who once again partnered with GSG to gather this data, is so excited to share the one-of-a-kind insight into the evolution of the medical aesthetics industry.”
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the medical aesthetic industry was growing at a remarkable rate. The 2022 Medical Spa State of the Industry Report outlines the impact the pandemic has had on the present and future of medical aesthetics, helping readers to understand where their businesses are in relation to the rest of the industry and how they can improve their bottom line.
“One thing we continue to see is explosive growth throughout the industry,” says Thiersch. “While COVID certainly had an impact, the data shows that this industry has continued its pattern of explosive growth with no signs of slowing down. The COVID impact was merely a speedbump—following a brief dip, the industry not only rebounded but has now exceeded all projections we made prior to the pandemic. The next five to 10 years should be really exciting.”
