A telehealth website sold patients obesity drugs at affordable rates. Now they’re paying the price
Patients in Florida purchased three-month supplies of compounded tirzepatide from a telehealth provider. The compounding pharmacy that filled their prescriptions was found not to have a sterile compounding license, making thousands of dollars in medication potentially unsafe and at risk of contamination.
The Florida Department of Public Health filed a complaint against the compounding pharmacy, claiming that it was compounding without a sterile compounding license, improperly storing medicines that needed to be refrigerated and failing to document drugs it dispensed. Lack of this license is a violation of state license law.
Patients should be informed of which pharmacy is filling their prescriptions and know that patient counseling is available from licensed pharmacies in Florida.
