The American Medical Spa Association (AmSpa) will present the inaugural Women in Aesthetics Leadership Conference (WALC) in Miami on November 1 – 3, 2023. This leadership retreat will take place at the plush 1 Hotel South Beach in beautiful Miami and will include a variety of sessions and activities designed to unlock attendees’ leadership potential and nourish their souls. Faculty for the event features high-profile experts from the worlds of aesthetics and business, including Sara Blakely, founder and executive chairwoman of Spanx.
Medical aesthetics is one of the fastest growing industries in the United States, and from the board rooms of its biggest corporations to the treatment rooms of the smallest, single-chair practices, women are leading the way in this space. For the first time, AmSpa is inviting all the powerful, creative, visionary women who are building and maintaining the industry every day to come together in the lap of luxury, revel in collective success and chase the next horizon.
"The Women in Aesthetics Leadership Conference has been developed from a sincere desire to feed the souls and minds of the women who power the medical aesthetics industry,” says AmSpa COO, Cathy Christensen. “Women leaders have their own set of unique needs and, as an industry made up of majority female professionals and serving majority female patients, it's time we focus on meeting these needs. This is a passion project for me and all the female leaders at AmSpa, and we can't wait to share this incredible event with you.”
The program for this event includes interviews, panel discussions and presentations focused on growing leadership abilities and overcoming the obstacles that are often experienced by women leaders in medical aesthetics and elsewhere. Additionally, it will include several sessions designed to develop attendees’ mental and physical wellness, as well as a unique offsite group experience and opening and closing receptions.
“Our goal for every program we plan at AmSpa is to provide opportunities for attendees to find resources to further their goals, whether they be relationships, education or inspiration,” says AmSpa Events Director, Mary Richter. “With WALC, we are excited to work on creating environments and experiences that will contribute to fostering new relationships and spark inspiration for all who attend. Our goal is for every person to feel the passion that was used to create this event and take it back to their teams to share, inspire and channel that energy into their organization.”
In addition to Blakely, the initial group of speakers includes Erika Barry, NP-C, MSN, aka InjectorBunny, of Moksha Aesthetics; Nicole Chiaramonte, CEO of Advanced MedAesthetics Partners, Inc.; Kay Durairaj, MD, of Beauty by Dr. Kay; Paula Davis, JD, MAPP, CEO of the Stress & Resilience Institute; Sohee Jun, PhD; Marria Pooya, founder of Greenwich Medical Spa; and Tugbah Yanaz, founder of LEAD + VISION.
“We are so excited to premier the first Women’s Aesthetic Leadership Conference,” says AmSpa Sales Director, Natalie Anderson. “It is designed to celebrate, elevate and empower the vibrant women that make up our aesthetic industry. We will explore and address the challenges and opportunities facing female leaders in our industry, inside and outside the office. WALC will promote new thinking and inspire action with world-class speakers and female leaders in our industry who bring a unique perspective you won’t find anywhere else. It will be one of the most informative, impactful and energizing conferences AmSpa has ever offered.”
