The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Nursing and Boston-based LexRX have partnered to offer introductory level aesthetic injectables for neurotoxins and HA dermal fillers courses.

Students begin with live online lecture or pre-recorded asynchronous lectures providing an introduction to injecting neurotoxins and hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers, before students meet on campus for hands-on training. Once students complete the course, they receive a certificate awarding them hours with the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

The next hands-on Clinical Aesthetic Injectables Training course is offered on March 6 at UNC-Chapel Hill in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. See full course and accreditation details here.

Organizers say the field of aesthetics is booming and the goal is to improve safety in the industry.

"Everyone is seeking out different cosmetic treatments, but the education and quality behind the training just hasn't kept up," LexRx co-founder and CEO Alexa Nicholls Costa, NP, told ABC11. "That's what we're hoping to do with this partnership is elevate the standards for training and clinical practice when it comes to the specialty of aesthetic dermatology."

Pioneering University Partnerships

LexRx, based in Boston, first brought its "Inject with Lex" injectables training program to the Boston College Connell School of Nursing in 2023, in a pioneering university-level partnership. Boston students can access an Accelerated Clinical Aesthetic Skills Certificate, which covers neurotoxins, HA dermal fillers, biostimulators and collagen induction therapy. Also on offer are  the Clinical Aesthetic Injectables Skills Certificate, instruction on aesthetic Business Building, and individual course on HA dermal fillers, neurotoxins and biostimulators.

LexRx has since expanded to offer its certificate program for aesthetic injectables at the Columbia University School of Nursing in New York City, and now at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.
