Nextech recently launched Cora, its next‑generation AI assistant, and Cora Scribe, an AI‑powered clinical documentation solution embedded within the company’s electronic health record (EHR) platform. Cora Scribe listens to natural conversations during patient encounters, understands the context, and automatically turns the discussion into accurate clinical notes in near real time.

Unlike bolt-on, third-party scribes, Cora Scribe is embedded in the Nextech EHR and maintains a continuous two-way conversation with the patient chart. It captures patient encounters in near real time and streams discrete clinical findings – more than just summary notes – directly into the correct fields in the electronic health record, helping providers chart more efficiently while staying fully present with their patients. Cora works on whatever device providers already use, and there is no disruption to existing workflows.

"Being truly helpful in the exam room demands more than simple note-taking — it requires alignment with clinical workflows, and that’s what sets Cora apart," said Rusty Frantz, CEO at Nextech, in the release.

Rollout began with opthalmology practices and will extend to other specialties over time.

Early adopters have reported measurable time savings. One ophthalmic technician stated that the tool saves around 30 minutes per clinic day and leaves him with fewer notes left to complete, reducing after-hours charting.
