A self-proclaimed sports fanatic, George Korkos was an original investor in the Milwaukee Bucks ownership group and was one of their team's first team physicians.
The Bucks' 1971 NBA championship was particularly sweet, and he was given a game ball in honor of his contributions. He proudly wore a championship ring.
Eddie Doucette, the Bucks play-by-play voice in the team's early years, said Korkos' attachment to the team was unique.
“He loved his place and his stature with the Milwaukee Bucks,” Doucette said. “When they draw the curtain on his life I can guarantee you one thing — they will have lost one of the most incredible human beings in Bucks history.”
Korkos died May 28 in his home of Elm Grove at the age of 89.
