Sustainability Is the New Luxury: Why Eco-Conscious Med spas Are Pulling in Gen Z & Millennials

Ecofriendly coworkers grow plants together.

In a striking shift, eco-conscious consumer habits are emerging as a defining force in the luxury spa market — and savvy med spas are using this momentum to attract high-value clients. According to a 2025 industry report, 68% of spa consumers say they are more likely to visit a spa that implements sustainable practices. Meanwhile, 75% of millennial spa-goers say they prefer brands with a strong commitment to environmental sustainability.

Earthlite, a pioneer in spa-equipment manufacturing, is reframing eco-friendly design and sustainable materials not as overhead, but as a powerful marketing advantage. By using green materials, minimizing waste, and investing in sustainable manufacturing practices, Earthlite delivers a message that spa owners can lean into: for today’s Gen Z and millennial clients, sustainability is luxury.

A newly cited internal survey of U.S. wellness-spa clientele found that nearly 7 in 10 under-35 clients said they would actively choose a spa based on its environmental practices, and 42% said they would even pay a premium for treatments that use ethically sourced or sustainably produced equipment and products. With those numbers, the decision to run non-sustainable equipment — even if cheaper — starts to look like a missed opportunity.

For med spas outfitted with Earthlite’s tables, massage chairs, and treatment benches made from sustainably sourced wood, water-based finishes, and recyclable packaging, the brand’s eco-credentials become part of the spa’s own story. Instead of framing sustainability as a cost — “we spent more so you get this table” — forward-thinking spas now market it as a value: “You deserve beauty and wellness that doesn’t cost the planet.”

The result: increased client loyalty, stronger brand positioning, and higher perceived value — especially among younger demographics that associate wellness with ethical living. According to industry reports, spas that market their sustainability efforts often see a 15% increase in customer loyalty, and are more likely to draw new clients who search specifically for green-friendly wellness options.

As environmental awareness becomes integral to consumer identity, spas that embrace sustainability win not only on conscience, but on commerce. Earthlite’s commitment to green manufacturing isn’t just good for the planet — it’s an investment in attracting today’s most discerning, values-driven clientele.
