Following an undercover investigation, Miami-Dade deputies arrested a medical spa owner who they say sold products with the active ingredients of prescription weight loss medication. She is a licensed massage therapist and not licensed to prescribe drugs, according to the Florida Department of Health.

The sheriff’s office had received complaints of the woman “selling and distributing lollipops containing phentermine” (controlled substance used for weight loss), along with semaglutide (active ingredient in Ozempic and Wegovy) and tirzepatide (active ingredient in Mounjaro and Zepbound), according to the arrest report.

Undercover investigators visited her business on Sept. 27 and purchased three lollipops over the counter. An investigator returned last Wednesday to purchase 10 more lollipops. On Tuesday, deputies executed a search warrant, leading to the woman’s arrest.

The woman faces charges of practicing medicine without a license, dispensing drugs without a license and possession of a controlled substance.
