AmSpa and Florida Healthcare Law Firm to Host Medical Aesthetic Workshop

Posted By American Med Spa Association, Thursday, February 26, 2015

Chicago, Illinois (PRWEB) February 26, 2015--The legal rules and regulations for medical aesthetic practices, laser facilities and medical spas can be incredibly confusing, and missteps can be very costly. Join AmSpa on Monday, April 13, 2015, at the Grove Isle Hotel & Spa in Miami for its Florida Medical Aesthetic Workshop, Staff-training and Networking Reception.
This event will combine AmSpa's well-known focus on legal and regulatory matters with expert sessions on the business of aesthetics. A parallel track is also offered that provides hands-on instruction to medical aesthetics support staff on issues such as answering the phone, selling skin care products/procedures and treating clients professionally to help increase spas revenues. Space is limited for this event. Attendees who sign up before Friday, March 6th will save $20 and will also receive the CME monograph Risk Management for the Practicing Physician provided by OJM Group —a nationally accredited book providing 5.5 hours of Category 1 continuing medical education (CME).
Located at the stunning Grove Isle Hotel & Spa in Miami, the Florida Medical Aesthetics Workshop, Staff-training and Networking Reception will feature a variety of speakers and topics for physicians who are interested in adding medical aesthetics to their practices, as well as medical spa owners, including:
Florida Rules and Regulations Affecting the Medical Aesthetic, Medical Spa and Laser Industries will be presented by health law attorneys with extensive experience in the industry. Alex Thiersch, founder and director of AmSpa, Jeffrey Cohen and Jackie Bain of The Florida Health Care Law Firm will cover topics such as: fee-splitting (is it legal?), Groupon (is it fee-splitting?), ownership, delegation, corporate structure, new patient examinations, non-competes, the laws surrounding referrals and gift cards, and the best ways to protect a practice and earn loyal employees.
There will be time for attendees to ask pertinent questions about their practices, and have direct interaction with the attorneys and other health care professionals about the issues affecting this industry. “Florida has unique laws when it comes to medical spas, laser and aesthetic facilities,” says Thiersch. “Mr. Cohen’s presentation is a must for current medical aesthetic facility owners or anyone looking to break into the industry.”
Industry expert and success coach Bryan Durocher of Durocher Enterprises will cover Medical Spa Compensation--Pay by Performance. Did you know that the wrong compensation program is the No. #1 reason why most medical aesthetic practices and medical spas are not profitable. Learn a pay structure that is fair and equitable to you and your team.
OSHA and HIPAA compliance within a medical aesthetic facility will be covered by Jackie Bain of The Florida Health Care Law Firm. Attendees will learn about the steps needed to be compliant, what to expect if your office is paid a visit by a surveyor, and how to write protocols and teach your employees.
“We are thrilled to be hosting this event with our partnered health care attorneys,” saysThiersch. “These industry-focused educational events are genuinely needed, both to educate professionals on the legal landscape and to share tips on how to be successful.”
Other important topics that will be covered include How Digital Marketing Can Help You Find, Serve and Keep More Patients ... Profitably, featuring Timothy Sawyer of Crystal Clear Digital Marketing, and The Business of Ingredients: How to Market Your Business With Results (tentative) with Michael Q. Pugliese of Circadia by Dr. Pugliese.
Bring the whole team!
A consistent complaint heard by AmSpa is the lack of formal instruction available for the support staff. In answer to that, a parallel session is being offered at the April 13th event that provides hands-on instruction to medical facility support staff members on issues such as answering the phone, selling products and procedures, and treating clients professionally to help increase revenues. The participants will run through role-playing sessions involving phone calls, difficult clients and product sales.
This dual-track format – designed so that both owners and staff can attend – is the first of its kind in the industry, and tentatively includes the following topics:
Phone Management: How to Excel at Being the First Point of Contact
Patient Consultations: How to Assist in Their Success
Medical Aesthetic Profits that Skyrocket From Retail Sales
Staff Concierge and Practice-building Techniques
Are You Providing the Best Customer Service?
The Pitfalls of Fee-splitting
HIPAA and Its Application Within a Medical Spa
OSHA Compliance Within a Medical Spa
“We’re very excited to offer this program,” says Cathy Christensen, executive director of operations and communications for AmSpa. “The addition of staff-training to the much-needed updates on medical aesthetics law will make this, we believe, the most unique and valuable program in the industry.”
Immediately following the one-day program is a two-hour networking reception. Attendees will have a chance to meet with their colleagues, brainstorm with other industry professionals and have one-on-one time with presenters and exhibitors. Breakfast, lunch sponsored by Environ Dermaconcepts, beverages and appetizers during the reception are provided, as well as a chance to win incredible raffle items donated by exhibitors.
