California Governor Gavin Newsom has signed an economic relief package for businesses that were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The package includes waiving renewal fees for licensees of the Board of Barbering and Cosmetology (BBC). Renewal fees due in 2021 and 2022 for all BBC personal licenses and establishment licenses will be waived. Licenses that were renewed in 2021 prior to the fee waiver will be issued a license at no cost at the next renewal cycle.
The board has begun issuing renewals at no cost for licenses that expired in January 2021, February 2021 and March 2021, and should be mailed by March 22. Licenses expiring in April 2021 should be mailed by April 12. Processing times do vary, so the board asks for your patience during this time.
The board has posted a Fee Relief – Questions and Answers on its website, and it is available in English, Korean, Spanish and Vietnamese from its homepage.
