Moxie has raised a $10M Series B led by Lachy Groom and Signalfire at nearly 3x the valuation of its 2023 Series A. The round was preempted by existing investors, and was led by Lachy Groom with participation from Signalfire. This funding round positions Moxie to accelerate its mission of empowering independent medspa owners with the tools, guidance, and resources necessary to compete in an increasingly competitive market dominated by larger chains and private equity-backed rollups.

Moxie offers independent medspas the tools and expertise usually available only to the largest chains and private equity rollups: personalized coaching from an experienced medspa manager, powerful software, and pricing power with suppliers to help medical professionals build highly profitable medspas. Moxie’s business-in-a-box suite provides entrepreneurs with secure medical charting, scheduling and billing software, compliance tracking, and marketing tools and services, while matching them with a medical director, insurance, an ongoing business coach, and up to 55% discounts on critical supplies.

Founder and CEO Dan Friedman previously founded Thinkful, an online school that helped thousands of Americans start new, higher-paying careers. Thinkful was acquired by Chegg for $100M in 2019. He said: “Medspas are a fast-growing industry, and a rare opportunity for nurses to apply their training and expertise towards their own business. But medspas are also incredibly complex: medspa owners must find their niche, build and manage a team, develop a great brand, make smart capital allocation decisions including about devices that can cost over $200k… The list goes on and on, and that doesn’t even mention that they have to do an incredible job for every patient that walks in their door! We started Moxie to tilt the odds in their favor, and give them the tools to compete against a growing number of private equity backed chains.”

Moxie has given the founders of over 250 medspas — over 90% of whom are women and first time business owners — the opportunity to own their own businesses. Moxie-powered medspas on average are 50% more affordable and 3X quicker to launch, and grow 2X faster than the national average.

Moxie is also announcing its Compliance Defender product to help medspa entrepreneurs meet complex aesthetic medicine regulations. It provides custom compliance plans, AI-powered marketing review, financial monitoring, and audit-ready reporting to protect medspa owners' medical licenses and businesses. The new funding will support continued product investment toward Moxie’s vision of making it 10x easier to run a profitable, compliant independent medspa.

“Moxie has delivered exceptional value to nurse entrepreneurs from inception – that is what propelled it to category leadership. Moxie removes all the complexities of managing a practice and allows them to focus on the joy of servicing their clients. It’s been truly inspiring to hear how so many of these nurses, burned out from Covid, have been able to transform their careers with Moxie” - Yuanling Yuan, Partner, SignalFire.

Moxie was recently named to the SMBTech 50 celebrating the most innovative companies serving SMBs, and was among the 10 youngest companies to make the list.
