Q&A with Randi Boyette, PhD, AmSpa’s corporate development advisor

What’s your history with medical aesthetics?

Randi Boyette, PhD: “For the past 12 years, I’ve worked at the intersection of medical aesthetics, business strategy and marketing, helping thousands of clinics grow and succeed. As CEO of Spark Medical Marketing and CMO of NewBeauty, I’ve led digital marketing initiatives, strategic partnerships and industry education efforts that have shaped how clinics attract patients, scale their businesses and stay competitive.”

What made you want to work with AmSpa and the Medical Spa Show?

Boyette: “AmSpa has built a strong reputation as a trusted resource for medical aesthetic clinics, providing education, legal guidance and business support. The Medical Spa Show brings together industry leaders and forward-thinking clinic owners, creating an environment where real business growth happens. I was excited to get involved because the conversations happening here are shaping the future of medical aesthetics. AmSpa’s focus on helping clinics succeed aligns with the work I’ve been doing for over a decade, and I look forward to contributing to that mission.”

How important is continued learning in this industry?

Boyette: “It’s not just important—it’s essential. Medical aesthetics is one of the fastest-evolving industries, and clinics that don’t stay ahead risk falling behind. The most successful clinics are the ones that commit to learning at every level—whether it’s staying on top of emerging treatments, refining patient communication strategies or strengthening business operations. Clinical expertise is critical, but so is understanding how to run a profitable, scalable business. The clinics that make education a priority see stronger patient retention, better treatment outcomes and long-term financial success.”

How crucial is it to find the right industry partners for your clinic?

Boyette: “No clinic thrives on its own. The right partnerships—whether with technology providers, financial and legal advisors, pharmaceutical companies, product suppliers, or marketing experts—can make all the difference. A strong network helps clinics streamline operations, improve patient outcomes and maximize profitability. Having the right people in your corner saves time, reduces risk, and provides access to tools and strategies that drive real growth.”

How important is it to build relationships with fellow providers and business owners?

Boyette: “The most successful clinics aren’t just focused on their own four walls—they build relationships within the industry. Learning from others, sharing insights and staying connected to peers can lead to new opportunities, better decision-making and a stronger understanding of what’s working in the industry. Whether it’s through mentorship, collaborations or networking, those connections are invaluable.”

What have you learned after working with thousands of clinics?

Boyette: “Success in medical aesthetics isn’t about having the latest device or offering the lowest price—it’s about running a smart, well-structured business. The clinics that consistently perform at the highest level:

  • Know their numbers. They track key business metrics, invest in profitability and make data-driven decisions.
  • Prioritize patient experience. Retention and referrals matter more than constantly chasing new patients.
  • Invest in marketing that works. They don’t just rely on word of mouth—they leverage digital strategies to attract the right patients.
  • Stay flexible. They adapt to new trends, shifts in patient behavior and economic changes.
  • Build strong teams. A clinic’s success isn’t just about the provider—it’s about the entire staff working together effectively.

“The best clinics approach their business with the same level of care and precision as their treatments.”

Medical aesthetics is a profession dominated by powerhouse women. What advice do you have for women entrepreneurs looking to make their mark?

Boyette: “Powerhouse women in this industry don’t wait for opportunities—they create them. They lead with vision, make bold decisions and understand that success is built on both expertise and strategy. The most successful women in aesthetics know their value, take control of their businesses and aren’t afraid to push boundaries.

“Leaving a lasting mark means building something bigger than yourself. It’s about creating a brand that stands for excellence, elevating patient care and setting new industry standards. It means mentoring the next generation, staying ahead of trends and making decisions that drive long-term success. Those who truly make an impact don’t just follow industry shifts—they shape them. This is an industry where women don’t just participate—they dominate.”
